Whether it's making a ridiculous claim or partaking in general misogyny, LaVar Ball's presence in the national spotlight has gone far enough. Supporting your children in whatever they do is commendable. However, when Ball actually gets a referee kicked out, and then cites her gender in a negative context, people need to seriously reconsider giving him any air time.

At first, Ball was entertaining in a circus sideshow kind of way. People figured most of the things he said were to market his sons and his brand, and usually reacted with a smile and an "oh, you." But after this incident and his interaction with Kristine Leahy, people can see who LaVar Ball truly is.

Entertainment is transforming into harmful rhetoric, and it's time to shut Ball down.

People need to stop taking Ball so seriously. The guy is an entertainer. He has made the NBA offseason more lively and brought excitement during a time usually spent impatiently waiting for basketball to come back.

His incident has nothing to do with the referee being a woman. Ball was just frustrated at a bad referee who happened to be a woman. Any parent would get angry when someone who is getting paid to do a job doesn't do it correctly.

Ball has been the best thing in basketball since he burst onto the scene. He makes ridiculous claims, but it's part of the charm. There's an intangible quality that draws people to Ball, and people are waiting for what he will do next.

The people still want LaVar Ball.
