Is it okay for coaches to physically discipline players?

Whether it's Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher getting a little rough with one of his athletes or Michigan State's Tom Izzo berating someone on the court, coaches are under the microscope for how they treat their players. Many brush off their actions, saying toughness gets a player's attention. Others, including athletes, say this kind of coaching crosses the line. Many feel that type of leadership should not be acceptable. What do you think?

Was this crossing the line or are people being too sensitive?

People are getting their undies in a twist because a coach grabbed a player by the face mask? If they think that's bad, they should be watching a different sport.

Competitive sports get rough and sometimes a coach needs to be a little physical to get his point across. Fisher was just trying to nab the attention of his player who was letting his emotions get the best of him. Grabbing his face mask was the best option. Even the player agreed with Fisher.

Tom Izzo also needed to get through to his player in the heat of the moment. It's not like he punched him or anything.

People are just being soft.

If you're a great coach, you don't need to get physical to get your point across. Coaches are supposed to be teachers and communicators. Getting rough is just an indicator that you can't get the job done.

Coaches need to be held accountable for putting their hands on a player. If you can't communicate without touching your player, you shouldn't be coaching.
