ESPN let go of 150 employees in another round of layoffs. These layoffs are becoming increasingly regular. With fewer sports fans tuning into shows and viewers sick of the political content on the network, it might be time for ESPN to do everyone a favor and go away. Still, the network provides daily highlights, and some of the best investigative reporting in the country. Should ESPN go away?

Remember when ESPN reported on sports? The network moved away from what made people fall in love with them in the first place—nonstop sports coverage. Now all it has is politics and opinions based on shoddy reporting. With other networks focused on a providing sports coverage, sports fans don't need ESPN anymore. The company is hemorrhaging money, and has no direction. Disney should just cut its losses and let ESPN disappear.

People who say ESPN is too political are not paying attention. The network still carries hundreds of games per week, and still have highlight based shows that fans keep asking for. Plus, ESPN provides some of the best in-depth investigative reporting in the industry with shows like Outside The Lines, and E:60. There may be other sports networks out there, but no one does it better than ESPN.
