After another successful season, running back Devonta Freeman received a five-year extension to stay with the Atlanta Falcons worth $41.25 million. Freeman is coming off two consecutive years where he gained more than 1,000 yards and scored more than 10 touchdowns. However, Freeman has not been more productive than other elite running backs who may deserve the money more. What do you think? 🏈

For the past two seasons, Devonta Freeman has gained 2,135 yards from scrimmage and scored 27 total touchdowns. His versatility in the backfield has made him the feature back in Atlanta, and he deserves to be paid like it. Matt Ryan gets all the glory, but Freeman is the engine that makes the Falcon offense go. That kind of value to the team deserves to be compensated handsomely.

To be paid like an elite running back, you have to be an elite running back—and Devonta Freeman is not. LeVeon Bell, David Johnson, DeMarco Murray and LeSean McCoy all rank higher in experts minds as better running backs. Freeman is good running back, but he doesn't deserve to be paid like the best running back in the game.
