Do fans take heckling too far?

Being a professional athlete is a double-edge sword when it comes to interacting with people. Fans shower them with admiration, while spectators of opposing teams bombard them with heinous personal attacks. Sometimes, athletes like Patrick Beverley respond to heckling, feeling they need to defend themselves from such attacks. No one gets paid to be heckled. However, some say it's just the reality of being a public figure, and fans pay good money to be that close. Cry all the way to the bank. Who do you side with?

As much as fans look up to or look down on athletes, they tend to forget players are human beings. Imagine someone going to your place of work, and screaming at you for hours. Not fun, right?

Sure, fans trying to psych out players is part of the game, but sometimes fans cross the line with personal attacks. And no, athletes getting paid millions of dollars does not give you license to be a terrible person. Can't we all just get along?

Boo-freaking-hoo. Athletes knew what they got into when they decided to play a game for a living with millions of people watching. If they don’t want to be criticized, they should get another job or grow up.

When fans attend games, they are paying their hard-earned money to see a good performance from their team and are encouraged to alter outcome of game by making things harder for the opposing team. Paying that money gives fan the right to say whatever they want to say to these spoiled athletes. Plus, not everyone crosses the line. Fans want to get in the players head, but it's usually in the good fun.

Grow thicker skin or get out.
