Is it unfair for Caster Semenya to compete with women?

Two-time Olympic champion Caster Semenya was on the losing end of a landmark ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport, which is requiring her to take testosterone-limiting drugs in order to compete with women—women she has been dominating in the 800-meter run the last 11 years. Many feel that her natural ability to produce testosterone is an unfair advantage. However, without natural ability, athletes like Michael Phelps, Usain Bolt and Michael Jordan had natural advantage and were never crucified. What do you think?

Caster Semenya has been dominating the 800-meter field since 2008. Her remarkable improvement, however, has made her a target of criticism resulting in drug tests and her having to take a sex verification test.

Now, the Court of Arbitration for Sport says she has to take testosterone reducing medication in order to continue to compete with women. The court ruled she has an unfair advantage because she naturally produced more testosterone than other women. Is that a fair ruling?

Caster Semenya is a talented athlete, but it's not like she has a typical advantage like height or weight. She is producing a ridiculous amount of testosterone which gives her the ability to build more muscle max, strength and have a greater ability to carry oxygen. Those are advantages that are impossible to overcome!

It might not be right, but it is what's fair in order to keep the competition at an even playing field.

So, Michael Phelps produces half as much lactic acid than a normal human being and Usain Bolt generates an extreme amount of power in his stride because he has more fast-twitch muscle fibers, but no one cried when he was dominating the field. Why Semenya is getting all this heat is a different question for another time, but to say it's unfair for her to compete against women is a complete joke.

What makes athletes better than other athletes are their natural athletic advantages. Without those, Michael Jordan wouldn't have been Michael Jordan, Serena Williams would've just been another tennis player—the list goes on and on. Is it unfair that those other athletes compete in their sports because they're so good? That might be one of the most asinine ideas in athletics.

Semenya should compete against women because she is a woman. Her opponents need to stop complaining and concentrate on beating her on the track.
