Best NBA trash talker: Michael Jordan or Larry Bird?
We're honoring pro basketball's best athletes with the gift of gab. We've compiled the greatest NBA trash-talkers into one bracket and we want you to decide who should walk away as the champion. We are in the final round, and the competition is fierce to take the crown.
Now, only one question remains: Who's the greatest NBA trash talker?
Having the ability to dominate a sport gives players a lot of confidence. Michael Jordan's greatness gave him so much confidence he was able to psychologically gain an advantage against opponents. Sometimes, he'd let you know how he was going to pick you apart. Other times, he let his game do the talking for him.
In either case, Jordan not only devastated you, he let you know about it afterward.
Sometimes, Jordan didn't have to say a word to intimidate you.
Former Utah Jazz owner Larry Miller admonished Michael Jordan for dunking on the shorter John Stockton. A couple of plays later, he took the challenge to heart. It did not end well for Mel Turpin or the Jazz.
Larry Bird’s play on the court was just part of his legend. For many who played against him, it was his trash talk that made Bird one of the most memorable stars in the NBA.
Even when the opposition knew what Bird was going to do, they still couldn't stop him.
Bird was neither the fastest nor strongest NBA player, but he backed up his trash talk time and time again.
