Are the Boston Celtics better without Isaiah Thomas?
I’ll let Dr. Cox from “Scrubs” take this one. If you think the Celtics aren't better when they have a legitimate MVP candidate, YOU’RE WRONG. In games that Thomas was out this season, the Celtics went 2-4. Aside from his top-tier 29-3-6 line, IT4 also led the league in total fourth quarter scoring.
The Celtics took advantage of LeBron James first bad game of the playoffs, and had a solid game plan that Tyronn Lue could not adjust to in time. If the Celtics want to go far, they still need Thomas healthy.
Now that the Celtics don’t have Thomas taking up possession after possession with useless isolation plays, Boston can get back to playing team basketball. Without Thomas hogging possessions, the ball was moving around and everyone was getting involved. On defense, the Cavaliers were unable to take advantage of the smallest guy on the court and had trouble scoring against the Celtics.
Say what you want about the regular season results, but when it mattered the most, Boston could play much better team basketball without Thomas on the court. Take your time getting back to the court, Isaiah.
