Are Mayweather-McGregor tickets overpriced?
There's a very thin line between anticipation and annoyance, and it's a line the Mayweather-McGregor fight crossed long ago. Both Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor might make a boatload of money, but they can't rob the public blind. Spending thousands of dollars on a fight featuring a retired boxer with a boring style, and an MMA fighter who has boxed at the highest level is the height of ridiculous.
These may be the top draws in their respective sports, but it doesn't mean they should charge an arm and a leg for what will be an inferior product. Promotors are so obsessed with breaking gate numbers they look like greedy hacks.
People should not be crying over the ticket prices. This is Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor we are talking about. These are two of the biggest stars in combat sports. Did people really think promoters were going to have bargain ticket prices for one of the biggest fights this decade? People should pay top dollar to see the best fighters in the world go toe-to-toe with one another.
Thousands of dollars are being charged for ticket prices because that's the kind of hype this fight has. If no one wanted to see this fight, ticket prices wouldn't be what they are. However, people are excited about the fight, and that's reflected in the ticket prices.
There will be plenty of fireworks in the fight to justify the price.
