Should Shohei Ohtani pitch again this season?

Los Angeles Angels' two-way rookie Shohei Ohtani threw a simulated game, bringing him closer to a return to the mound. Ohtani has been crushing balls at the plate. Having Ohtani pitch would let him pursue a Rookie of the Year award, which would be a highlight for him and the team. Still, the Angels are practically out of the playoff race and putting undue stress on him would only risk more injury. What do you think? ⚾

Despite spending an extended period of time on the disabled list, Shohei Ohtani is still in the Rookie of the Year race because of his clutch bat. Imagine what would happen if he was able to pitch to get a few more wins under his belt. The Angels haven't had a lot to play for this season and Ohtani's pursuit of the Rookie of the Year would get people in the stadium and bring positive coverage to the team. He needs to be pitching again.

The Angels would be foolish to risk Ohtani getting injured in meaningless games down the stretch this year. The Angels are out of the playoff race and the Rookie of the Year award is being dominated by Yankees stars Gleyber Torres and Miguel Andujar. The team should just let him play out the season as a designated hitter.
