Former Auburn head coach Tommy Tuberville told "Three Man Front" he thinks Hurts should remain the starter:

Jalen Hurts has got to be the starting quarterback right now. The guy's won a ton of games. He got into the national championship game, and he couldn't complete a pass. (Georgia) had them all on the line of scrimmage and his passing has got to get better...Jalen Hurts, the ball's going to be in his court, but he's got to be able to throw the ball better. I think he's a great leader. He understands how to win. I think he can run the offense.

According to 247Sports, former Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy told ESPN's "College Football Live" he believes Tagovailoa already has the starting job in the bag:

It's because of the threat of the passing game that has been missing from this offense for a number of years, really since AJ McCarron graduated after the 2013 season. The passing game and the balance that Alabama has tried to attack teams with, it just hasn't been there. Tua Tagovailoa, the way that he finished the season knowing that he didn't have a lion's share of the No. 1 reps, to know that he went and really worked with the twos for the majority of the season and to play that well under that much pressure makes me think that after eight months of repping exclusively with the ones, he's going to be outstanding. I think it's his job without a shadow of a doubt heading into the 2018 season.
