The Winter Olympics are a once-in-four-year spectacle that needs to be seen live on television to believe. Seeing the action, failures and successes in realtime leaves many people breathless with joy. But who has time for that? With the event literally on the other side of the world, many fans will have to wake or stay up until the wee hours of the morning to watch the Olympics live. Plus, people have jobs and school to worry about so online highlights are perfect. What are you going to do?

The Olympic Games aren't meant to be viewed in 30-second spurts. There is too much built-up tension that doesn't translate in short cuts of a video. The audience really feels the stress and anticipation with every stone thrown, every shot of a gun or every turn completed on the ice. Four years of training ride on one moment. Watching the Olympics live is the only way to sympathize with the athletes and really feel what they are feeling. Watching highlights is lazy. Real sports fans watch live on television.

Wouldn't it be nice if we could all just stop our lives just to watch the Olympics? Still, unless the world has turned into some sports fantasyland, people have jobs to tend to. Rarely can people afford to take time off for a sports event, no matter how rare it is. The time difference sure doesn't help either, with South Korea a day ahead of viewers in the United States. On-demand online highlights are the most convenient way to see the important parts of the action without having to sacrifice the other parts of life. It's highlights or bust for most people.
