Would Obama have defeated Trump if he ran for a third term? | The Tylt
In much of the analysis of Donald Trump's victory over Hillary Clinton for President of the United States, it was pointed out Trump won over people who previously voted for Barack Obama. Clinton, for whatever reason, just didn't sell them on voting for her ticket. President Obama said he is "confident" that if he had been running, it would have been a decisive victory for the Democrats. But Trump is a political force Obama never had to deal with. So who do you think would win?

In an interview with David Axelrod for his podcast "The Axe Files," Barack Obama says he could have beaten Trump and argued for a more progressive platform.
"I am confident in this vision because I'm confident that if I had run again and articulated it, I think I could've mobilized a majority of the American people to rally behind it."
Trump isn't having it. And while he would have changed his strategy, he could have taken Obama. The only reason Obama is speaking up like this is because he knows the Trump election is a referendum on his policies.
President Obama said that he thinks he would have won against me. He should say that but I say NO WAY! - jobs leaving, ISIS, OCare, etc.

Obama is going to go down as one of the greatest presidents of all-time. He came in during a financial crisis, saved the auto-industry, got us Obamacare, got rid of Osama Bin Laden and restored the international standing of the U.S. And that's without even talking about his oratory skills. He would have run circles around Trump in a debate.

Obama was a bit of a populist himself.
Your current approval rating is 41%. President Obama's is 56%. Oh, and he won the popular vote in both of his elections. https://t.co/fpY1UANRNl

Clearly Obama doesn't realize Trump's victory was a repudiation of Obama's Presidency.

Dude - you lost the popular vote. Mr North of 55% in approval ratings President would have beat you like a drum. https://t.co/tOu5F9VQVT

It wouldn't have mattered who you put against Trump. It was a year for cleaning house and picking a new guard. The people were sick of the status quo.
After 8 years,Obama gave us corruption, anti Americanism, deceit, a horrible economy, & weakness.
