Will Donald Trump make it through his first term?
The Hill's Masood Akhtar argues it's only a matter of time before Trump resigns:
Trump is only surviving because his base is still with him. As soon as his base recognizes that they are not going to get what he promised on the campaign trail, they will eventually stop supporting him, and his approval ratings will sink to an unprecedented low. I predict that will be the time when he will resign. He must know that the campaign to impeach him has already begun.
On the other hand, how many times has the establishment counted Donald Trump out?
His campaign was ridiculed as a joke. Then, when he won the Republican nomination, people dismissed the idea he could even win the presidency. He's proven himself more politically astute than the entire mainstream media, and is playing a completely different game. Trump has suffered low moments before, but always bounced back triumphant—his supporters say this challenge is no different.
The Trump Train isn't having it. The president's naysayers were wrong when he was a long-shot candidate, and they are wrong now.
@julimoodystunts@bbusa617 All they preached was Trump is a horrible person, can't be elected and now Trump is a horrible person, must be impeached. The losers lost!!!
Republican strategist Rick Wilson points out that Trump's campaign success has not translated well into governing. He can't bully, rally, or insult his way into passing legislation or working with other world leaders. He simply doesn't have the knowledge, the attention span, or the interest required to do this job.
