After the deadliest shooting in modern U.S. history left 58 people dead and over 500 injured in Las Vegas, another mass shooting in Texas that left at least 26 people dead has many urging Congress to enact stricter gun control laws. Some Democratic members of Congress have already made strong statements advocating for stricter gun control, but Republicans have only offered "thoughts and prayers" thus far, and many doubt Congress will do anything to change gun laws. What do you think? 🔫

The mass shooting in Sutherland Springs, Texas has left 26 dead and around 20 more wounded. As horrific details of the shooting continue to unfold, many are wondering if the Texas church shooting, along with the shooting in Las Vegas, will lead Congress to enact stricter gun control laws.

Historically, Republican members of Congress have offered nothing more than "thought and prayers" in response to mass shootings, but their condolences have yet to translate into legislative action. Many believe this tragedy is no different.

But Democratic members of Congress have been extremely vocal in calling out their colleagues and pushing them to do more than offer prayers. Connecticut Sen. Chris Murphy, who was thrust into the gun control debate after Sandy Hook left 20 children dead, has led the fight for stricter gun laws and had some harsh words for his Republican colleagues.

And other Democrats have chimed in, also demanding action on gun control.
