Should President Trump negotiate with Democrats on health care? | The Tylt
After the latest GOP effort to repeal Obamacare failed, President Trump said he would be willing to "negotiate with Democrats" on a bipartisan health care bill. Democrats have said they are willing to work with the president on improving Obamacare, but Republicans insist that they need to keep their "repeal and replace" promise to the American people. What do you think? 🤔
Should President Trump negotiate with Democrats on health care?
After watching his fellow Republicans fail at repealing Obamacare, President Trump now says he is willing to work with Democrats on health care.
"I will negotiate with Democrats to see if we can make a bipartisan bill."
Democrats have been consistent in refusing to support health care legislation that makes it more difficult for Americans to be covered, but have said they are open to working across the aisle to improve Obamacare.
Back in March, Senate Democrats sent a letter to President Trump saying they were open to working with him on health care as long as he agreed to stop attacking the Affordable Care Act:
Members of the Democratic caucus remain ready and willing to work with you on policies that would improve the stability of the individual insurance market... your administration must commit to putting an end to all efforts to unravel the ACA, undermine the health care system, increase costs, or hurt patients, providers and families.
Many Republicans are still standing strong in refusing to compromise on an Obamacare repeal, and believe the president should too. The GOP spent seven years promising to repeal Obamacare, and now it's time for them to follow through. As Deroy Murdock writes in the National Review:
Republicans absolutely must repeal and replace Obamacare. If they do not accomplish this before November 2018, Republicans should brace for the voters’ righteous wrath... act like a majority, and get this done.
And many conservatives seem to agree: no compromise on Obamacare.

For 8 years they promised a repeal of Obamacare
Total and abject failure
