The Justice Department announced that special counsel Robert Mueller indicted 13 Russian nationals for interfering in U.S. elections.

"The defendants allegedly conducted what they called information warfare against the United States, with the stated goal of spreading distrust towards the candidates and the political system in general," Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein said.

While Rosenstein noted the indictment "does not contain any allegations that any Americans knowingly participated in the activity," it does suggest that members of Trump's campaign may have been "unwitting" actors.

President Trump has repeatedly denied all accusation that he or his campaign colluded with Russia, and believes the entire story is just "fake news" cooked up by the media to distract from his agenda.
