The UK just left the European Union. Can the union survive? | The Tylt
There were once 28 members of the European Union, a political/economic arrangement. But as of June 24, there are 27. The headlines say it all: "Britain votes to leave EU, unleashing global turmoil."
But do you think the union can survive this long-term?
Despite there being 27 remaining countries that represent 500 million people, the UK leaving the EU is a psychological blow and is going to force the remaining members to think about their relationship. Many members are saying the concept of the European Union needs to change. And if it can't, perhaps it will just dissolve.
But perhaps all this is being overly dramatic. The EU has some things to fix, OK sure. But now that the pound has hit a 30 year low, the remaining members would be crazy to walk away from the EU. Just because England wants to jump off a cliff, doesn't mean Poland will follow!
And Europeans as well as others are pretty much split. Some say the EU is doomed, but others believe the union will be just fine. But ...
What do you think: #EuroDoomed or #EuroStrong?
