Taxes may be stressful, but they are an integral part of adulthood. In the age of the Internet, any tax question is just one Google search away, and typical twenty-somethings should not be stymied by electronic tax returns.

Asking your parents for help when filing your first tax return is fair, but beyond that, it's time to put on your big boy pants and file your own taxes. Mommy and daddy can't help you forever.

But what if you make a mistake and pay too much in taxes? Nobody teaches you how to do your taxes in school, so why not lean on your parents who have likely been filing taxes for decades?

TaxAct found over a third of millennials go to their parents for tax help, and what's the shame in that? Millennials have enough to worry about and parents are often happy to help. Don't be a hero, let your parents work their magic so you get as much money back as possible.
