Several counties in states such as Washington, California and New York are takings steps to prevent people from being displaced in the middle of an unprecedented crisis in recent human history. The logic is simple—with the economy tanking due to the coronavirus outbreak, people will get sick, lose jobs, or at least lose out on some pay. Making someone homeless or forcing them to move long distances in the middle of a disease control effort is a great way to undermine public health efforts. However, landlords are business owners too—and if they go under, even more people could end up out of housing. What do you think?
