Native Americans are protesting to stop the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline. Activists says the pipeline endangers their water supply and will disturb burial sites. Supporters of the pipeline say it is the safest way to transport oil, and is a key to energy independence.

Pipelines are safer than the current methods used to transport oil. A lot of oil is currently being transported through cities and towns by truck and train. Pipelines move the oil away from people. It's fundamentally safer.
