Hillary Clinton just said no to debating Bernie Sanders in California before the high-stakes June 7 primary.

“We have declined Fox News’ invitation to participate in a debate in California,” read Clinton's statement, saying that she's choosing to focus on "the threat a Donald Trump presidency poses.”

Was it a bad idea for Clinton to refuse one more debate?

Fox News released a statement criticizing Clinton's decision, and the Sanders campaign is livid. Sanders said he found the news "disturbing but not surprising" and accused her of backing away from her commitment to doing one more debate in California.

“I think it’s a little bit insulting to the people of California -- our largest state -- that she is not prepared to have a discussion with me about how she will help the Californians address the major crises that we face,” Sanders said at a rally in Santa Monica.
