Sanders says he'll probably vote for Clinton. Will his supporters follow suit? | The Tylt
Bernie Sanders told CNN Friday morning that "in all likelihood" he would vote for Hillary Clinton in the November presidential election, but the network reported that "he left the door open that he could change his mind." Asked earlier in the day on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" if he would cast a vote for Clinton, Sanders said yes, but immediately cast his decision in terms of how important it was to make sure Donald Trump does not become president.
If Bernie buries the hatchet, will his supporters vote for Clinton?
The ire and loathing from the Sanders camp towards Clinton and her supporters has not abated since the former Secretary of State became the presumptive nominee. Sanders refuses to concede, and says his priority now is making sure his agenda is incorporated into the Democratic platform during the July convention. His more extreme "Never Hillary" supporters have made plans to protest and potentially disrupt the convention due to their displeasure with Clinton's win, and tepid, tentative endorsements from Sanders may not do much to change their view.
On the other hand, the specter of a Trump presidency is chilling to many Sanders supporters, and especially after the UK's Brexit vote this morning, the reality of conservative and often xenophobic voting blocs showing up to the polls may spur the #BernieOrBust folks to hold their noses and vote for Clinton.
Others from the Sanders camp have said the lesser of two evils is still an evil, and nothing could convince them to cast a vote for Clinton. Could an endorsement from Sanders, however halfhearted, change that?
What do you think: #Bernie4Hillary or #BernieNeverHillary?
