Now that a Rick Scott-Bill Nelson matchup is official, Florida’s Senate race could hit the $100m or $150m mark. https://t.co/AqzBC5jO9J

And Scott could, if he feels the need, to pay for tens of millions of it on his own pic.twitter.com/OKD12sGajE
Scott's challenger Nelson responded to the news by noting "Rick Scott will say or do anything to get elected."
Sen. Bill Nelson: "I’ve always run every race like there’s no tomorrow – regardless of my opponent. While it’s clear that Rick Scott will say or do anything to get elected, I’ve always believed that if you just do the right thing, the politics will take care of itself."

Others have noted Scott's long list of failures as governor.
Rick Scott was

-involved in one of the largest health-care frauds in U.S. history then plead the 5th
-privatized much of Florida's prison system & Medicaid
-weakened voting rights
-mandated drug testing for welfare recipients
This guy is just the worst, Florida. #VoteThemOut pic.twitter.com/ksbow5CnnI
It’s been a long eight years under Rick Scott — skyrocketing healthcare costs, assault weapon violence, rural communities crumbling, education funding dwindling, and civil rights being denied. Good riddance. Let’s win this one, @NelsonForSenate.

Other feel Scott will be an excellent candidate, and Nelson doesn't stand a chance.
Nelson has never won in a year that's wasn't already good for Democrats, and Scott has never won in a year that wasn't already good for Republicans. So this will be a good test of how important the national political environment is.

VERY glad to hear that Rick Scott is running for Senate. The man has been a strong leader for Florida. Hopefully, they can retain a strong conservative for governor so Florida doesn't go down the tubes into a high-tax sanctuary hellhole. Sure he will win the Senate seat handily!
