Despite a first-year mired in chaos, Twitter feuds and a constant reshuffling of White House staff, President Trump's approval ratings just hit a 9-month high, according to FiveThirtyEight

Within the past few weeks alone, the White House has been caught up in scandal after scandal—a staffer accused of domestic violence, an affair with a porn star, and Michael Wolff's explosive tell-all book—yet Trump's popularity among his supporters has been virtually unaffected.

On Tuesday, FiveThirtyEight’s approval rating tracker, a weighted average of various pollsters’ findings, showed Trump with an approval rating of 41.2 percent. That’s his best result since all the way back in mid-May, when his approval plunged amid controversy over his firing of FBI Director James Comey.

Despite the bump in his current popularity, Trump still remains the most unpopular president at this point in his tenure.

Trump is polling 6.5 percentage points behind where President Obama was in February 2010, and 14 points behind where Bill Clinton was in February 1994.

Many Republicans haven't wavered in their support of the president. The economy is booming, Republicans passed their tax bill and Trump is looking to find a permanent immigration solution. As far as they can tell, Trump just can't stop winning.

But critics argue Obama, not Trump, is responsible for the current economy. And though Trump often touts the Dow Jones as proof of his success, it saw record losses in recent weeks.

While Trump's tweets have often been the focus of discussion, many argue they have had little to no impact on his success as a president.
