Will President Trump make it through his first term? | The Tylt
Between dismal approval ratings, a stalled legislative agenda and the looming Mueller investigation, President Trump's critics are speculating about whether he'll be impeached. Steve Bannon reportedly gave the president has a 30 percent chance of completing his first term. While impeachment is unlikely with a Republican-controlled Congress, if Democrats make huge gains in the 2018 midterms, that firewall could disappear. Others think he'll resign, Nixon-style. But supporters say Trump is in it for the long haul and will win again in 2020. What do you think?
Will President Trump make it through his first term?
With record low approval ratings and a year fraught with scandal, many are wondering whether President Trump will make it through his first term. According to Ladbrokes, President Trump now has a 47.6 percent chance of being impeached or resigning before 2020.
Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon apparently also believes the president will not finish his first term, giving Trump a 30 percent chance of success.
Many agree with Bannon's assessment of Trump.
Steve Bannon now tells Vanity Fair that he thinks Trump only has a 30% chance to serve out his term! This is the first time I've ever agreed with this man!— Ed Krassenstein (@EdKrassen) October 12, 2017
But others think the odds of Trump finishing out his term is even lower.
I have a hard time believing he'll make it through the end of the year— Nikki Ramsey (@Veronic79656622) October 12, 2017
But polling has also confirmed that Trump's core supporters are still very much with him, and almost nothing can shake them of their loyalty.
Six in 10 people who approve of President Donald Trump (61%) say they can't think of anything Trump could do that would make them disapprove of his job as President... Almost an identical number (57%) who disapprove of Trump say they are never going to change their minds on the President's job performance either. This means a majority of Americans (53%) admit they have their opinion of Trump completely, totally and irreversibly baked in.
