It's an election year, and that means politicians across the country will tell us where they stand on the issues and why. Whether it's healthcare, immigration, climate change or gun control, we want Tylters to tell us which issues matter most to them. Republican efforts to repeal Obamacare shot healthcare to the top of the list for many, but a strong economy that puts money in the pockets of Americans is also essential. Which issue matters most to you?

Republican efforts to take Obamacare away from millions of people shot healthcare to the top of the list for many. The fact that we are consistently ranked last in healthcare among developed nations despite spending more than any other country is absurd.

The United States has much room for improvement when it comes to healthcare, experts said. “The U.S. spends more on healthcare, but we don’t have the same health outcomes [as other countries],” said Cynthia Cox, associate director at Kaiser Family Foundation... Viewed from a global perspective, the current U.S. healthcare impasse underscores just how poor health outcomes for people in the United States are when compared with other countries.

Voters should demand their representatives make healthcare a top priority. Nobody should have to die because they can't afford to pay their medical bills. Healthcare is the most important issue of our time.

The economy is connected to so many other important issues, which is why it matters the absolute most. A strong economy means more money in the pockets of everyday Americans, lower unemployment and more money for investment. As Dan Schawbel argues in Huffington Post:

The economy will continue to be the most important issue of our elections because it’s connected to several other mainstream issues. Americans, who are unemployed, or underemployed, are feeling real pain and frustration with their status and will use their vote to try and change it. Politicians in this election, or in the future, that focus on economic issues will be relevant and praised by voters.

A strong economy enables us to fix the many other issues that face our nation, but a weak economy renders us powerless. Make no mistake, the economy is the most important issue of 2018.
