Kyrsten Sinema currently represents Arizona's 9th district and now she's looking to join the Senate and replace Jeff Flake. Donald Trump only won Arizona by four points in 2016, and the Grand Canyon State has been trending blue. Polling has consistently shown Sinema with a slight edge over her Republican challenger Martha McSally, and Democrats believe she has what it takes to turn Arizona blue.

The Kyrsten Sinema campaign describes her as "one of the most independent voices in Congress":

"Kyrsten knows firsthand the challenges everyday families face in Arizona. Born in Tucson, Kyrsten faced tough times as a kid, but she learned the power of hard work and the importance of helping others."
"Consistently ranked as one of the most independent voices in Congress, Kyrsten works every day to deliver for Arizona families – expanding access to quality, affordable health care, helping veterans get the benefits they’ve earned, creating good-paying jobs for Arizonans, and keeping Americans safe at home and abroad."

But Republicans are confident they can hold on to Arizona this year. Martha McSally currently represents Arizona's 2nd district and is a retired Air Force Colonel. She has taken a hard line on immigration and is confident she is the one who will replace Jeff Flake in the Senate.

The Martha McSally campaign describes her as a "results-driven leader":

"Martha continues to fight for Southern Arizonans in Congress. After winning her 2014 election by just 167 votes, she got right to work and quickly established herself as one of the most active and results-driven leaders in Congress. In fact, the Center for Effective Lawmaking identified McSally as one of the top ten most effective members of Congress according to their academic ranking system. She went on to win her 2016 election by nearly 44,000 votes."
