Is the GOP health care bill good for America?
Democrats say the newly revised bill is no better than its previous incarnations, and will strip vulnerable populations of insurance in order to fund tax cuts for the wealthy.
“The Republican Trumpcare bill still slashes Medicaid,” Senator Chuck Schumer of New York, the Democratic leader, said. “The cuts are every bit as draconian as they were in the previous version — a devastating blow to rural hospitals, to Americans in nursing homes, to those struggling with opioid addiction and so many more.”

Republicans believe Obamacare needs to be repealed as soon as possible to save Americans from the failed system. Obamacare promised to drive premiums down while letting people stay with their doctors and insurance. That never happened. Instead, premiums went up, insurers abandoned some markets entirely, and coverage has gotten worse.
Conservatives argue people should be free to buy the coverage that meets their needs. They shouldn’t have to pay for more than what they want or settle for less than they need. If that means shopping for coverage from another state, they should have that option.
Many worry Obamacare's problems will metastasize with time. More and more people will see their quality of care go down while the cost goes up. It's not only an unsustainable program, it doesn't work. Republicans say the AHCA will give freedom back to the states and people to decide what's best. The federal government doesn't need to tell people what's best.
“This is our chance to bring about changes we’ve been talking about since Obamacare was forced on the American people,” Mr. McConnell said. “It’s our time to finally build a bridge away from Obamacare’s failures and deliver relief to those who need it.”
