Is the brewing Trump-Russia scandal worse than Watergate? | The Tylt
Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper made headlines when he said the Watergate scandal “pales” in comparison to the controversy over Russian interference in the 2016 election and possible collusion with the Trump campaign. Critics scoffed, saying there is still no hard evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin. But others insist it's damning that the president fired FBI Director James Comey to halt the investigation. What's worse—Kremlingate or Watergate?

The break-in at the Democratic National Committee headquarters in the Watergate Hotel in Washington in 1972, and subsequent attempts by the White House to cover up its abuse of power, brought down Richard Nixon in 1974.
People like Tapper argue the scope and stakes of Trump-Russia are exponentially larger than the "third-rate burglary" that was Watergate—because this time, the alleged crime is colluding with a hostile foreign power to rig an American election.
But there are still so many "ifs" and no hard evidence. The smoking gun that Trump's campaign colluded with Russian officials has never appeared.

The White House asserts there is no evidence of wrongdoing, and argues the scandal has been manufactured by the Democrats.
But even even the Nixon presidential library pointed out, Nixon never fired the head of the FBI.

Eric Trump fired back yesterday, calling the Kremlingate allegations "the greatest hoax of all time."
