Is Pete Buttigieg a progressive?

Mayor Pete Buttigieg is facing a backlash for seemingly moving his positions to the right as he campaigns to become the Democratic presidential nominee. His past work at McKinsey combined with his openness to donations from billionaires and Wall Street has some voters seeing him as a bought and paid for candidate. However, his supporters say that he's fighting for things that can actually be put into action, not just pipe dreams that sound good on TV. What do you think?

Pete Buttigieg's supporters see him as a reasonable, level-headed progressive. As in, he's the polar opposite of President Trump. He's not a radical like some other Democrats. His plan for expanding Medicare wouldn't radically upend the insurance industry and his plan for college tuition would be means-tested.

Buttigieg's opposition to Medicare for All and free college has upset many young voters who previously believed in him. He ran as a progressive candidate but his policy platform and willingness to accept big money have shown otherwise.

Some of his former supporters have started a campaign called #RefundPete demanding their donations back.

Some Democrats see Buttigieg as the worst of what Democrats have to offer. He's not a genuine, authentic politician.
