Is the NRA a terrorist organization?

In the wake of the Texas church massacre―just one month after the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history left 58 dead and over 500 wounded―many began referring to the National Rifle Association (NRA) as a terrorist organization due to its complicity in mass murder. But others argue it is unfair to label the NRA a terrorist organization or blame the tens of millions of law-abiding gun owners for the actions of a few disturbed individuals. What do you think? ☠️

The Votes Are In!

Former MSNBC and ESPN journalist Keith Olbermann ripped into the NRA for "enabling" massacres after the Las Vegas mass shooting left 58 dead and over 500 injured. Olbermann called on the U.S. to brand the NRA "for what it is... a terrorist organization."

Olbermann wasn't the first to label the NRA as a terrorist organization. After the Orlando massacre, an op-ed in The New York Times argued the NRA was at the very least "complicit in terrorism."

Few places on earth make it easier than the United States for a terrorist to buy assault weapons to mow down scores of people in a matter of minutes. The horrific massacre in Orlando last weekend is only the latest example. And all this is made vastly easier by a gun lobby that has blocked sensible safety measures at every turn, and by members of Congress who seem to pledge greater allegiance to the firearms industry than to their own constituencies. There is a word for their role in this form of terrorism: complicity.

Many have pushed back against the accusation, believing it is wrong to suggest the NRA and its members condone the actions of mass murderers.

But others continue to support the notion the NRA is a terrorist organization that enables murderers.

And a MoveOn petition to declaring the NRA a terrorist organization has already garnered over 9,000 signatures in the wake of the Las Vegas shooting.

The National Rifle Association needs to be listed as a Terrorist organization for their promotion of guns and that gun violence is the only way to solve the nations problems. The NRA has become the problem for their promotion of weapons... They promote weapons in ever corner of our society, arming the youngest to the oldest among us. There only solution to violence in our society is more guns and more violence. The Organization itself promotes violence for the sake of weapons.
