If Peter Thiel was appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court, he'd set a lot of firsts—some good, some bad. Per The Huffington Post:

Were Trump to actually nominate Thiel, he would be by far the richest Supreme Court nominee of the modern era, with an estimated net worth of $2.7 billion.
...
Thiel attended Stanford Law School and worked at Sullivan & Cromwell, a prestigious New York law firm, for seven months. If nominated and confirmed, he would be the first openly gay member of the Court.

Thiel, who was surprise guest speaker at the Republican National Convention, has supported candidates like Ted Cruz, Carly Fiorina and Ron Paul in the past. While Thiel has worked a law firm, he has no bench experience.

And it's worth noting both Trump's campaign and the Thiel camp have publicly denied the rumor.

But that hasn't stopped the Twitterverse from voicing their concerns about a man who secretly financed a lawsuit to kill journalism, and has expressed controversial views in the past.

And others see a bit of Trump-ian brilliance in the SCOTUS rumor.
