Is Antifa getting out of control? | The Tylt
Antifa got major attention in February when protests at Berkeley against right-wing speaker Milo Yiannopoulos turned violent. Antifa supports resisting fascism "by any means necessary." Critics say the group's approach of physical confrontation (and some members' call to arm the movement) is veering towards terrorism. But supporters argue that fascism warrants confrontation; Nazis must be punched, not reasoned with. What do you think?

Antifa is defined by many as a set of tactics and practices rooted in militant left-wing and anarchist politics. As Antifa NYC told The Nation, "Anti-fascism does not tolerate fascism—it would give it no platform for debate."
“Antifa combines radical left-wing and anarchist politics, revulsion at racists, sexists, homophobes, anti-Semites, and Islamophobes, with the international anti-fascist culture of taking the streets and physically confronting the brownshirts of white supremacy, whoever they may be.”
Others say Antifa advocates for brutality against people they disagree with, and tries to intimidate their opponents with threats of violence to forward their political agenda. Terrorist much?
A Change.org petition to have Antifa declared a terrorist organization has received more than 80,000 signatures.
Whaddya know? These rallies are super peaceful when Antifa terrorists don't show up! #Berkely pic.twitter.com/XRBQE92deO

And others think that white supremacists are inherently violent. NYC Antifa says peaceful protest will not be sufficient to stop them:
“If Trump tries to register Muslims and engage in mass deportations, a Change.org petition is not going to stop it.”
@LauraAleyTaylor @WalshFreedom @washingtonpost These are antifa extremists, not your average Lib. I don't support violence but at least they are fighting white supremacists.

@Rodnes456Rodney @WalshFreedom I don't support the antifa, but I find it hilarious how the right is more offended by them than white supremacists. 😏

And they say their tactics are working.
