Is America headed in the right direction?
The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) counted 867 hate incidents within 10 days after the U.S. election. A spike in hate crimes definitely doesn't seem like the right direction.
While the left is fearful, many on the right think we are actually finally headed in the right direction. They believe a new administration made up of people from outside Washington can actually free up gridlock, reduce corruption, bring back jobs, and restore American security.
Global warming, nuclear war, and a violently divided American populace top the list of common fears, particularly in the wake of the election. Big changes are afoot, and while some people look forward to them, others are terrified.
The rise of the Internet and self-selected media means everyone can live in their own self-affirming bubble. If Americans are "selecting" their own "facts," they won't be able to see what are really America's issues, much less solve them.
