According to a new book by John Bolton, President Donald Trump asked China's Xi Jinping to help him win the upcoming election by buying more American goods, approved of China placing more than 1 million Uighur Muslims in concentration camps, and wanted to invade Venezuela because it would be "cool," among many other things. Each of these incidents alone would be an impeachable act. Bolton's account shows what we know about Trump's behavior is only the tip of the iceberg—we must take bipartisan action now before Trump does further damage to the nation. However, Republicans unanimously stood by the President during the last impeachment. They clearly will not take the necessary action, so some argue it would ultimately be more effective to ensure Trump and Republicans lose by a large margin come November.

With new evidence from Bolton, it is clear that Trump is unfit to be President of the United States. Leaving him in office for any longer is unacceptable—he cannot be allowed to do more damage to the United States. He has repeatedly shown that he is using the powers of his office in order to tilt the election in his favor. Trump has been repeatedly caught trying to cheat to win in November. He must face consequences for his actions, otherwise he will continue to cheat in order to win a second term. He is barely trying to hide his efforts.

A second impeachment would likely end up like the first one—with Senate Republicans doing the bare minimum to speed it along and vote it down. Instead, people should focus on tangible things that will clearly make a difference—organizing to ensure Trump is defeated in November. A second impeachment hearing could ultimately backfire for Democrats, shifting the narrative away from Trump's failed response to the pandemic to an arena more suited to Trump's blowhard tendencies.
