Is it wrong to fat shame the president?

After White House physician Dr. Ronny Jackson gave a rundown of the president’s health, the Internet had a field day making fun of Trump's weight. Some people say "Live by the sword, die by the sword." When Bill Clinton struggled with his weight everyone joked about his terrible diet and his appearance in jogging shorts—but Bill Clinton didn't fat-shame women right and left for decades. Trump lives in a glass house and many critics are quite happy to throw stones.

Sure, body-shaming is nasty and immature, but President Trump's critics say he's engaged in such cruel commentary about other people's appearances—particularly women—for so long, that he deserves every bit of shade he gets. Not to mention, if you launch your political career by spreading the lie that our first Black president wasn't born in the United States, no one will pity you when people make "girther movement" jokes about you.

Even if people are hypocritical jerks or you disagree with them politically, there's no excuse for bigotry. If it's wrong to body-shame people, why would it be okay to do it to the president? Aren't we just emulating and justifying his fat-shaming, misogynistic behavior?

When it comes down to it, people are still mocking someone for being fat or unattractive. It doesn't matter how he looks, that's not cool. Don't sink to his level.

Others say if you're going to own beauty pageants, go on Howard Stern to rate women's bodies, describe women as "fat pigs," laugh at a campaign rally about how bad you think the first female presidential nominee's body looks from behind and joke that some women are just not hot enough for you to sexually assault, you can have ALL the seats when people come for your appearance.
