Does the media censor conservative thinkers?
At Quillete, O.T. Ford points out that Williamson has said several times that he believes more than a third of American women should be executed. He's welcome to shop that take around to various media outlets, but the Atlantic is under no compulsion to give that kind of extremism a platform.
Williamson is free to advocate for anything he chooses. That was true before he was hired by the Atlantic, it was true during his short time there, and it remains true now....His hiring was a mistake; his firing is easily defensible.
Erick Erickson points out that many conservatives believe abortion is murder, and to drive pro-life writers from the public square sets a disturbing precedent.
Kevin Williamson's firing is another reminder that much of American conservatism finds itself ghettoized not by choice, but by the left's active demands that the right be silenced. Socialists, national or otherwise, don't like to compete for ideas when they can shut up others.
