Did the DNC cheat Bernie Sanders out of the nomination?

Bernie Sanders' supporters have filed a class action lawsuit against the Democratic National Committee, accusing them of working to keep Sanders out of the White House, and demanding retribution for their donations. Berniecrats say the DNC always wanted Clinton, and the leaked DNC emails prove the process was rigged against Sanders. But DNC lawyers say they were not legally bound to be impartial—and it's not their fault Sanders lost by 4 million votes. Was Bernie robbed? 👴🏻

The  DNC's defense of themselves in the lawsuit thus far has just poured gasoline on the fire. They claim Sanders donors should've known Clinton was favored, and that while they may have violated their charter by not being impartial, they broke no laws (the classic "we did it but it wasn't illegal" defense).  🤔

“There’s no right to not have your candidate disadvantaged or have another candidate advantaged. There’s no contractual obligation here . . . it’s not a situation where a promise has been made that is an enforceable promise,” DNC lawyer Spiva said.

But others are sick and tired of Sanders supporters whining that they were robbed. Yes, the DNC wanted Hillary—big shocker, she's a Democrat! Why didn't Bernie just run as an Independent? Because he wanted the exposure and financial foothold the DNC establishment could provide for him.

“We concluded–and I think it was absolutely the right decision–that in terms of media coverage, you have to run within the Democratic Party....The structure of American politics today is such that I thought the right ethic was to run within the Democratic Party,” Sanders said.

Critics of the #BernieOrBust movement may agree that Debbie Wasserman Schultz needed to go, or that the party establishment wanted Clinton—but they scoff at the idea that Sanders was robbed. Clinton got nearly 4 million more votes than he did. That's not because of intraparty maneuvering or closed primaries or debate scheduling. It's because more people wanted Clinton, and Sanders never managed to connect with the communities of color that form the backbone of the Democratic Party.

No one rigged the primary. Bernie Sanders lost the South. Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama had all won the South, and no Democrat in modern times who didn’t has ever won the White House. Not only did he never invest the time and money to woo non-white southern voters, he shrugged them off as too ill-informed to be worth the effort ...He never connected with those voters — the Democratic base.

But others say committee's conduct amounted to fraud, misrepresentation, unjust enrichment, breach of fiduciary duty, and negligence against Sanders and his supporters.

The elephant in the room for the DNC isn’t Trump or the GOP or Bernie bros or Russian hackers; it is its own elitist, corporatist, cronyist, corrupt system that consistently refuses to listen to the will of the people it hopes to represent.

Others have likened the situation to a game where the refs made bad calls. Yes, biased officiating is wrong, but you don't lose the game by 4 million votes because of a few bad calls. The DNC didn't make 4 million people vote for Clinton over him.

The DNC lawyers' defenses reek of sketchy backroom deals. And now the committee is getting sued for not paying their employees overtime? People have had it with these clowns.
