Should military funds be used to build President Trump's border wall? | The Tylt
President Trump has reportedly suggested using the U.S. military budget to fund construction of his border wall. Trump also tweeted that the border wall is "all about National Defense" and is directly related to the military. Many believe this is a terrible idea and the border wall is a waste of money as it is. But others argue the border wall is essential to national security, and the U.S. spends too much on the military as it is. What do you think? 🚧

Trump has reportedly had private conversations with Republican leadership in which he's suggested the U.S. military budget be used to fund his border wall.
The idea is Trump's latest attempt to find a way to build the border wall he promised supporters during his campaign as Mexico has dismissed his call for Mexico to fund its construction. Trump has said he would seek that payment in the form of a refund, either through trade negotiations, remittance payments or other means.
Two White House officials told the Post that Trump saw the increased funding for the military as a reason it could afford to foot the bill for the border wall. The omnibus agreement Trump signed into law last week included about $1.6 billion for border security.
Trump also tweeted about the border wall, arguing it is an issue of "national defense" and is therefore directly related to the military.
Because of the $700 & $716 Billion Dollars gotten to rebuild our Military, many jobs are created and our Military is again rich. Building a great Border Wall, with drugs (poison) and enemy combatants pouring into our Country, is all about National Defense. Build WALL through M!

Many find Trump's idea insulting. Veterans struggle enough as it is, asking the military to foot the bill for his expensive and unnecessary border wall is ridiculous.
Military families are on food stamps but @realDonaldTrump wants to use $25 billion for his stupid, useless border wall.

Apparently, Donald Trump is looking to the substantial military budget to find funds for the border wall.

RT if you would rather that budget be used to put more money in the pockets of our soldiers and vets.
Instead of spending billions of dollars from our military budget to pay for a big dumb border wall: why not use that money to fix the VA so our veterans get the care and resources they deserve? https://t.co/z7aBAtuBbz

But others have defended Trump, arguing the border wall is a matter of national defense and it is totally reasonable to appropriate military funds to build it.
https://t.co/59OwRQHAHn Love her or hate her, the truth remains—President Trump has the authority to use money for national defense which includes a border wall. His first duty as President is to keep us safe! The Corps of Engineers can build the wall! #MAGA
