Are Senate Republicans engaging in a cover up?

In an upcoming book, former National Security Advisor John Bolton was concerned that Trump was doing personal favors for the leaders of Turkey and China. Bolton further provides an account of Trump demanding to hold military aid until Ukraine agreed to investigate his political rivals. Despite these revelations, Senate Republicans seem unlikely to call Bolton or any other witnesses to the impeachment trial. Trump's supporters say Senate Republicans are doing their job to defend a legitimately elected president. Trump's critics say Republicans are covering up a clear abuse of power by President Trump.
