Who should've gotten the role of Aladdin: Zayn Malik or Mustafa Ali?
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Disney had reportedly struggled with "finding a male lead in his 20s who can act and sing has proven difficult — especially since the studio wants someone of Middle-Eastern or Indian descent (the animated film is set in the fictional Middle Eastern city of Agrabah)."
But fan-casting begged to differ! But Disney finally casted Mena Massoud as Aladdin and Naomi Scott as Jasmine! Hence, we are still letting fans decide who should've gotten the title role in our mini bracket. In our first round, it's long hair beauties and seasoned actors Dev Patel and Avan Jogia—and acting newcomers Zayn Malik and Mustafa Ali.
Who should play Aladdin? Vote early and vote often!
Zayn might not be the strongest dancer, but he's a great vocalist who can move and work his behind off! Directioners have compared Zayn's aesthetic to Aladdin for years, and the Zsquad would love for him to take the role.

Mustafa tweeted he would love to play Aladdin. He saw the Broadway musical with his wife and revealed "Aladdin" inspired their real-life romance. Aww!
His interest sparked a Twitter campaign by fans to secure him the role of a lifetime. And although he's not an actor, Mustafa has the personality and athleticism required to pull off the role.
