Who should be in the Hall of Fame: Chic or Chaka Khan?
Chic has been nominated a whopping 11 times, more than any band in Hall of Fame history. They changed the direction of disco, dance pop, and hip-hop. If the Steve Miller Band is in Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, shouldn't Chic be?
"Rapper's Delight," "Another One Bites The Dust," and "Get Lucky" wouldn't exist without Chic. When you've influenced Queen, Daft Punk, Vaughn Mason and the Sugarhill Gang, you should be in the Hall of Fame.
But then... Chaka Khan! All her hits with Rufus, plus her solo records—there's no one like her. "I'm Every Woman" is still one of the all-time great female empowerment anthems. She bridged disco and post-disco, dance music with pop. A powerful vocalist and singularly charismatic performer.
Chaka worked with and became great friends with Prince. “Prince worshipped Chaka,” said the singer's brother, Mark Stevens. “In his eyes, she is the greatest." If Prince thought you were the GOAT? You should be in the HOF!
