Who’s the more iconic pop star: Katy Perry or Taylor Swift?
Katy shares a record with Michael—as in the King of Pop and King of Breaking Records!
Katy's "Teenage Dream" scored five #1 pop hits on the Billboard Hot 100—including "California Gurls," "Teenage Dream," "Firework," "E.T." and "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)." MJ's "Bad" was the very first and the only other album to reach this milestone. Those #1s are "I Just Can't Stop Loving You," "Bad," "The Way You Make Me Feel," "Man in the Mirror" and "Dirty Diana." This makes Katy the only female artist to reach such a feat.
Go Katy! Because if you add "I Kissed A Girl," "Part of Me," "Roar" and "Dark Horse"—her #1 hits alone make her pretty darn iconic and pretty much unstoppable.
She's too busy making fun hit pop tune after fun hit pop tune to have focused on her beef with Taylor all these years. She finally addressed it during "Carpool Karaoke." Watch her sing her biggest hits with James Corden below.
Taylor is one of pop music's greatest crossover success stories. She went from teenaged country-pop singer to a full-grown pop diva by the time her "1989" album was released in 2014. The album went on to win Album of the Year at the 2016 Grammys.
Taylor is known to write about her breakups, and no one can deny her ability to write songs that become smash hits. This means it's not a good idea to break Taylor's heart; and that includes friendships. Cough cough Katy!
But "1989" isn't her only hit album. She holds the record for having three albums that have sold more than 1 million units in the first week of sales in the U.S. And she has an array of trophies and awards to prove just how lauded her music really is. She accomplished so much since her teenaged years, and she's only 27 years old.
And it just so happens that one of her more recent hits is "Bad Blood"—a song about her falling out with Katy. Watch the music video below.
