Below is the synopsis of "The Hunger Games," per IMDb.
Katniss Everdeen voluntarily takes her younger sister's place in the Hunger Games: a televised competition in which two teenagers from each of the twelve Districts of Panem are chosen at random to fight to the death.
"The Hunger Games" was a critical and commercial success. The film series helped turn Jennifer Lawrence into a movie star. After the first film slayed, the entire book series was turned into a successful franchise.
In a world divided by factions based on virtues, Tris learns she's Divergent and won't fit in. When she discovers a plot to destroy Divergents, Tris and the mysterious Four must find out what makes Divergents dangerous before it's too late.
"Divergent" wasn't as critically and commercially successful as "The Hunger Games," but the film still did pretty well at the box office. And fans not only love Shailene but the franchise itself.
Shailene became an international movie star because of the film. While the sequels weren't as successful, the final installment, "Ascendant," will be a television movie. This isn't a bad thing, per se—it's just an opportunity to slay in the ratings.
