Should 'Teen Wolf' return?

Tyler Posey, who played the eponymous lycanthrope on “Teen Wolf” says that it’s time to return to Beacon Hills on the small screen or in a feature film, and plenty of fans and former cast members agree. The beloved show ran from 2011 to 2017 and while some fans say the story concluded satisfactorily, plenty of others say there’s always room for more. Should “Teen Wolf” return?

“Teen Wolf” took a nothing sort of 1980s film and turned it into totally new beast on the small screen. It’s a sort of spiritual sibling to “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” full of supernatural struggles, blundering youthful romance and a lot of humor. It was a decidedly pro-LGBT show as well, which garnered it a lot of die-hard fans. Once upon a time, if a show was over, it stayed that way. Nowadays, fan power is stronger than ever, and several shows have returned after their initial cancelation. While it’s true that “Teen Wolf” sewed up most of its plotlines well, there’s a lot they could still explore without getting tired. And clearly, it’s what fans want.

When Tyler Posey took a break from fronting a band and getting more tattoos to get on Twitter and call for the show’s revival, he got lots of support, with one notable cast member—Dylan O’Brien—not joining in on the enthusiasm. It’s okay to leave well enough alone. Not everything good goes on forever, and there are a whole lot of shows that ran out of steam and fell apart (like the aforementioned "Buffy"). Most importantly, if O’Brien doesn’t want to reprise his role as Stiles, what the hell is the point of bringing the show back at all? His relationships with the other characters, especially Scott, are a huge factor in what made the show so much fun. The final season had very little of him, and suffered for it. The show ended well in general. Keep it that way.
