Taylor Swift garnered backlash following her country cover of Earth, Wind & Fire's classic "September." The iconic smash is a song about joy, yet Taylor's banjo-filled cover isn't joyous, but kind of sad and critics find it to be disrespectful. Chicago Tribune writes "covers shouldn’t be reverent, but they should have some respect." But Swifties love her rendition of "September" and say her haters are just going to hate, hate, hate, hate, hate. Is the cover inappropriate? 🎤

Chicago Tribune's Kevin Williams writes the cover is just disrespectful:

It is because you can’t take a song that is the embodiment of joy, suck every last ounce of the life out of it, move time along a week (from the 21st to the 28th of September) because of some ulterior meaning and then add banjos. Covers shouldn’t be reverent, but they should have some respect. Most importantly, they shouldn’t be grim and forgettable.

But Swifties are enjoying the cover! It's classic Taylor.
