A group of people around the world are suddenly linked mentally, and must find a way to survive being hunted by those who see them as a threat to the world's order.
Fans were not happy when the series got canceled. Their online campaigning led to a proper finale for the series, airing June 8. CNET's Nick Hide wrote:

Even the show's stars were surprised about the cancellation. USA Today's Hannah Yasharoff wrote:
The stars of Freeform's supernatural drama Shadowhunters expressed surprise (and fans voiced outrage) at the network's surprise decision to cancel the series at the end of its third season.
