Fans of "Percy Jackson" are campaigning for Netflix to reboot the series. The books were adapted into two films back in 2010 and 2013, but some critics argue the movies stunk and the franchise is deserving of a reboot. Although "Percy Jackson" never eclipsed the commercial success of "Harry Potter," some fans still compare the two. While "Percy Jackson" might deserve its due, the "Harry Potter" movie franchise has already made $7.7 billion globally at the box office. But which series is your favorite?

Fans want that Netflix reboot or, heck, some will take another movie—if it's better. The fans of "Percy Jackson" are showing just how mobilized they are on the Internet after years of being ignored.

Teen Vogue's Lauren Rearick reported on the fandom's mobilization.

Fans on Twitter have been expressing their disappointment over how the movie adaptions of the book were handled. "Ever think about how Percy Jackson had the potential of Harry Potter as a franchise and have the opportunity to grow up with the character but instead we were given two sh*tty movies," one fan wrote on Twitter, in what became a viral thread. Their thread continued, touching on how now would be a good time for Netflix to possibly revive the films, especially with the series's representation of LGBTQ, disabled, and POC characters.
Others also chimed in, noting that even an animated version of Percy Jackson would be a great alternative. One follower also suggested a television rendition of the series, writing, "Percy Jackson did not get the film adaption it deserved. To truly develop the characters and story they should’ve made a tv series instead and had every season be a book."

Fans have their fingers crossed that Netflix will pick up "Percy Jackson" as an original series. They want a network or movie studio to do "Percy Jackson" justice... finally!

Some say "Percy Jackson" has the same amount of potential as the "Harry Potter" franchise, but the former is underserved.

And others say the book series tops "Harry Potter."

But does the "Percy Jackson" series truly have the same level of recognition as "Harry Potter"?

Even within the similarities of young adult fantasy, "Harry Potter" is in a league of its own. The franchise grossed $7.7 billion worldwide at the box office, while the "Percy Jackson" series only made $426 million globally between two films. "Harry Potter" is an ongoing book series and movie franchise with a spinoff series of books and films. The series even introduced the popular Broadway play "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" in 2018, after success on London's West End, which started in 2016.

The "Harry Potter" franchise remains beloved.

Some fans can't even rank the films. That's how strong the "Harry Potter" franchise truly is.
