One Direction and Big Time Rush both helped define boy bands in the early '10s, but each group left fans in distress when they went on their respective hiatuses. Big Time Rush broke out in 2010, after the band's titular Nickelodeon show premiered in late 2009. Rushers have been waiting for a reunion since the group went on hiatus in 2014. The wish somewhat came true when BTR reunited for a virtual chat in April 2020 before giving Rushers a taste of "new music" with the acoustic version of their song "Worldwide" in June. Directioners are celebrating 10 years of 1D, after the group formed on "The X Factor" on July 23, 2010. Though the boy band went on hiatus in 2016, they promised to someday reunite. Regardless, 1D's fans are more mobilized than ever. Both fandoms have their fingers crossed for reunion tours and new music. Which comeback do you want to happen most?

BTR already gave Rushers a taste of reunion when reuniting for a video chat in April 2020, followed by dropping an acoustic cover of their bop "Worldwide" in June.

The band posted the acoustic version on Instagram. BTR wrote:

These challenging times around the world have made us want to connect with all of you so much. They have also made us want to stay connected with each other. We got inspired to record and sing together again seeing how many smiles our check in video created weeks back. We spent some time recently recording one of our favorite songs (safely apart) and wanted to share it with you all as our small way of saying thank you. We are sending love to all of you WORLDWIDE. Please take care of yourselves, take care of each other, pls take care of all of your fellow neighbors. We’ll be thinking about you...

BTR definitely gave their fans a big time rush throughout their tenure and with their mini reunion. Here's to hoping for new music and a reunion tour once the pandemic ends.

For now, reminisce. Check out BTR's music video to the original bop of "Worldwide" below.

No matter the future of the band, One Direction has left a lastly impact on the Directioners and the subset of fandoms of Louies, Harries, Niallers, Liam Stans/Payners and Zquad.

In fact, two mega fans, Angie and Hannah, help run the Twitter fan account @KingLWTPromo and talked with The Tylt about the impact 1D has had on the fandom.

Hannah: "I think it's just crazy that I was, what, maybe 12 when I made my Twitter account and now I'm traveling the world going to see their shows with friends I've made through them—[friends] I wouldn't have met before—even though they're my age, even though they're back from England, they're from different places in England. And I'm traveling to other people's countries to go to the their home shows and all that. It's just so amazing. They've connected so many people whether it's to talk about them or just to talk because they are just my best friends. It's amazing."
Angie: "I agree. I feel like I've made so many lifelong friends.... And being introduced to them because we all have the same likes and dislikes, [and] we all have the same passion for a band—it's so nice to think about. One Direction themselves have brought so many good things into my life. I wish I could thank them for it because they have brought me a lot of happiness in times that I really needed it. They are amazing, and I'm happy I got to live the experience of them being together and got to make the friends I have made. Even Hannah. I love Hannah and I don't see us ever not being in each other's lives."

So now you know what makes the Directioners so beautiful. While 1D's fandom patiently wait for that full reunion (hopefully with ex-member Zayn Malik), check out the last released smash, "History," below.

Check out more from Hannah and Angie in this episode of Fiercely Fandom with Deron. Host Deron Dalton goes to the "fans behind the fan account" by uncovering how Hannah, Angie and their team have grown the fan account @KingLWTPromo into one with over 245,000 followers.
